NetVault®: Backup 8.5 includes a Hyper-V Application Plugin Module (APM). By consolidating virtual machine protection into a single NetVault: Backup environment, it provides centralised backup and recovery of virtual and physical environments from the same console.
With the introduction of the Hyper-V plugin, BakBone is delivering on our virtualisation strategy to continue developing the essential building blocks for simplifying virtualisation data protection and management, including support for multiple hypervisors and Windows and Linux virtual machines.
Providing protection for virtual machine images and individual files, the solution helps to enhance efficiency whilst reducing storage utilisation and server load.
The Hyper-V plugin also provides:
- Online protection of Windows-based virtual machines running VSS aware applications, such as Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server and SharePoint Server
- The ability to perform image-level backups for disaster recovery and Windows Guest OS file-level backups for faster file-level recovery
